Welcome! this is officially my very first blog and while there are approximately 440000000 in existence (really, google it) this one is mine and I'm super excited about it!!
I have the full intention of rambling on and on, but I promise to include pretty photographs in every post, so hang with me. While I leave no topic off limits, you will most likely encounter a post about my most recent photo-shoot, architecture, beauty, or renovating a charming 1939 Colonial style home in Kansas.
Essentially my need for a creative outlet is constantly taking me on new adventures. For posterity's sake and for the love of sharing pretty pictures, I shall blog.
1. ELOPEMENT ROUND #2
...Kidding, they only eloped once. When I say eloped I mean eloped in the truest sense of the word.
"We marched ourselves down to the Chicago courthouse with my roommate in tow and swore to love each other until death do us part. Forever and For Always played over the radio on our taxi ride there, and for whatever reason, that was all the encouragement from God and the universe that I needed."
Meet Yadira & Derek. Despite being part of large families, they stood in a Chicago courtroom surrounded by strangers on their wedding day. While this scene might defy certain conventions concerning romantic weddings, Yadira is full of emotion as she states:
"we haven't had our big wedding day yet, but i think even after we do, our small wedding day will always hold the most special place in my heart."
As to why they eloped?
"We knew it was unconventional and fast... we hadn't even met each other's parents, perk of the military, but we really felt in our hearts that we were made for each other..."
I love this story, it just makes me happy. It is so simple and sweet and the genuine friendship between these two people is fun to watch. Considering their elopement, Yadira and Derek hadn't had the chance to take photos as a couple. Feeling inspired, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to have a bridal inspired photo-shoot with this beautiful couple to model. Just in case you didn't know there is a stunning Spanish Mission Cathedral in Oklahoma that you should definitely check out.

Note: Yadira and Derek both served in the U.S. military. Scroll all the way down to see some very grainy but very sweet photos of the courthouse wedding, and being reunited after Derek's deployment.
